#hairtalk #fabuloushairfriday Let's talk about hair typing and why it can leave you with more questions than answers about your hair. The current hair typing system that most of us go by is the number and letter system coined by Andre Walker. It does a decent job at breaking down the different types of hair but it can leave you confused when you try products that work for other people that seem to have your hair type and you don't reap the same benefits. This can be for a number of reasons, but one reason is that pattern only tells part of your hair "story". You also need to examine your hair's texture, density, and porosity. You can have any combination of these and that means what works for me may not work for you even if we are both "4c" Naturals. So just keep these things in mind when looking for products. If your hair is fine, heavy products, oils, or butters may not be the best for you. If your hair is very dense, you may need heavy products to tame and style. Low porosity hair doesn't absorb moisture that easily so you may be to use heat when conditioning and condition more often. I could go on, but I hope this helps! 😚😚 #askalesha
