Thoughts: The Moon Embracing Sun is a surprisingly fair historical-romance Korean drama. The child actors were the seed that planted my love for this show. I sincerely applaud their superb emotive performances. The adult actors also performed well but they weren't as engaging as the child actors. Han Ga-in's portrayal of Heon Yeon-woo/Wol was my least favorite. She's an incredible person but there's something extremely off with her acting. I felt the same way after seeing her in Architecture 101. And my dislike for the actress didn't allow me to connect the character, which then led to me being unaroused by the King & Wol romantic/emotional scenes. In my opinion, Kim Yoo-jung & Yeo Jin-goo had way more onscreen chemistry than Han Ga-in & Kim Soo-hyun. And I know very well that Kim Soo-hyun is capable of connecting with his romantic counterpart (i.e. Producers, My Love from Another Star, The Thieves, etc.). But again, I felt disconnected to Wol's character so I understand why the chemistry was affected. I'm sure many viewers disagree but opinions & preferences vary from person to person. And these are my own thoughts... either way the drama overall wasn't bad (as you can tell by my rating). I just wish I could've been emotionally invested into the main couple (as adults). 😕
