(Continued from previous post) -----------
How did I get here after 3 posts about ET and still haven’t mentioned her most obvious quality? ET had the best positive attitude which was expressed through her bright smile (we all know now writer Kim probably named her Eun Tak and chose GE partly for this reason). At first, I thought she had to be over positive to self cope with her miserable life under her aunt’s roof. At first, I also thought what she said to KS about living positively in memory of the decease just another phase of comfort. Until I realised they were not just empty words. ET had lived by those words every single day since her Mum passed away. I’ve always admired ET in those scenes that she “talked” to her Mum, like a friend, like she could still hear her. The letter from Canada was the most touching of those scenes. It showed how much she knew and understood her Mum, how much she loved and missed her Mum every single day, how hard she worked to be happy every single day for her Mum. There was no blame, no bitterness, no whining about her hard life with the aunt. She accepted it and faced it head on!
Because her positiveness came from the right place, she also had the healthiest psych for a 19 year old growing up in an abusive environment. She was well adjusted, in touch with her feelings and not afraid to show them: either the stories of her life (she could tell it in anyway she liked to but never she really had self pity, only the motivation to overcome them), how she felt about certain situations, or her feelings to KS (but that topic deserves its own post 🙂). Even when she was a 29 year old in depression after KS had returned to nothingness, she had the wisdom to seek help from a psychiatrist. Born to a life that was dictated by fate, whenever she could, ET exerted control over her own. (Continued in next post still 😂)
