I THOUGHT IT WAS THE HARDEST THING I WOULD EVER DO
========================= 3 years ago, I finished the London Marathon. .
Together with my friends Rakhee and Petra, I trained and ran and walked. .
The training was tough through the winter. .
The day was hard as well.
I was cold all the way.
My feet went numb at 15 miles. .
But at the same time, I loved the atmosphere. .
There was no inch of the way where I was on my own, nor where someone wasn't shouting my name to keep going. .
Right now, my next challenge is coming up. .
Climbing Kilimanjaro. .
What strikes me though was that although I had hoped to run much more of the route, I knew it would be hard, but I could finish it. .
Approaching Kilimanjaro is a totally different ballgame. .
There are so many unknown there: the altitude is the first one.
But also the weather, camping, no shower for 7 days, no proper toilet for 7 days, not knowing what food we'll get. .
And then the obvious climbing, blisters, etc. .
If I thought the marathon was the hardest thing I would ever do, this is at a totally different level. .
Can't wait (said with lots of apprehension). .
What's the hardest thing you ever done? .
