One of my favourite therapy activities is creating "a safe place", which basically means drawing a real or imagined place that is your retreat. It's safe because no one else can get to it. You can go there whenever you need and it can look like whatever you need: beach, rainforest, tepee, garden, treehouse, cocoon, underground hideaway, spaceship.🚀⛺🏡 It can have big strong walls, hidden doorways or float on clouds. ☁️ It's a great tool for children who don't have much control over an illness or life situation..A little escapism. By drawing it, they create a visual reminder that the place is there when they need it.
