kettlebell swing (24 kg) - make sure you hinge at the hips (so push them back behind you, not down like a squat..weight on the heels..the arms are just look hooks,all the power is coming from the glutes,,make sure the kettlebell aims for your midsection and not down near your feet..they should be explosive,so pick a weight where your can do 20 reps x 5 times 10 second break in between #kettlebellswing #glutes # consistentperformance

The "Towel" Swing! This version of the swing is mostly used for the purpose of learning the movement mechanics correctly. I consider the towel swing to be a prerequisite movement for the standard swing. The addition of the towel ensures that you are generating the movement precisely from a "hip-hinge" rather than a "squatting pattern". Also, that you are not compensating the movement by pulling with the arms or lower back.
Karen here is not a beginner, but has had hip replacement surgery in the past. Using the towel also helps rehab clients to perform this very athletic movement without putting undue stress on the joint structures. Karen executes this movement very well. Notice how the Kettlebell stays in alignment with her arms the entire movement and also how she stacks her body tall instead of leaning backwards. Karen says this training has allowed her to continually improve her capacity for outdoorplay like rock climbing, cycling and mountaineering 💪🏽⛰!
