We are heading out to Ana Marie Island tomorrow for three nights at a Bed & Breakfast on the water!!! Totally soaking up every kid-free night we have and continuing to invest in our marriage! Marriage takes work and you can't get lazy. Weekends away aren't necessary if it's outside of your budget, but what IS important is to be intentional on keeping the spark alive!

Another area you need to be intentional is your weekend eating! I eat the same on a Saturday as I do on a Wednesday....all super yummy, nutrient-dense, fill-my-belly-goodness foods .... Don't undo all your good work by going food crazy just because it's the weekend! Find balance 7 days per week!!!

WHAT'S IN YOUR DRINK? When people tell me they don’t eat bread, rice or pasta because of the carbs but…drink lots of juice 🤔. Carbs INCLUDE fructose (fruit sugar) and sucrose (table sugar). While I won’t argue that this is a bit of an odd comparison my point is that YOU have a CHOICE where you get your carbs from. As someone who eats between 220-260 grams of carbs a day, using 30-35% of them on less than 2 cups of juice isn’t practical. I’d rather eat:

A. 1 slice of bread with 80 g avocado + 1 egg (300 calories)

B. 50 grams of oatmeal + a medium banana (~300 calories)

I know the above options (A, B) will keep me full and fuel my body more effectively than 473 ml of pure pomegranate juice (300 calories) which contains 76 grams of carbs of which 64 are grams of sugar! I am absolutely NOT here to tell you what to eat or drink. For most of us, carbs are our body’s main source of fuel. While protein is important, carbs before and after a workout are also crucial in helping your body prepare for and recover from your training. I include carbs at every meal but make sure to include most of my carbs in my meal (lunch) before training and my meal (dinner) after training as I train around 5pm.

Credit to @carlymabe : About 3 months ago I was in a rut with postpartum training/ eating/ etc. and knew something needed to change. Nick and I came across RP Strength, and along with a group of people we decided to give it a try! After about 3 months here are my results! I have come to really enjoy counting macros and I don't feel like I am missing out on anything because this program allows for lots of variability and flexibility. I have been following Cut 1 pretty consistently, with some cheats and the occasional beer/ glass of wine on the weekends. It hasn't been easy, I fell off the wagon here and there but FELT it immensely so reared back on track. Overall, great energy, an increased work capacity in the gym and lifting heavier loads 💪🏼

6 months ago a small group started a new adventure after signing up for my first 20to1, Running for Beginners course. (If you're reading this A-Team style', you're awesome!) The Facts are;
•They didn't know each other
•Some had NEVER run before
•All were nervous to start
Since completing the course they've progressed their running so much I started a run group 'Team Wolfpack'. The whole ethos of our run group is you never feel like you have to 'keep up', you run at your own pace. Some of these guys have since created a whole new level of fitness in my HIIT classes. But most of all they created a unique bond of friendship.
