Friends, this weekend we experienced a unique travel opportunity to explore America’s first gold-tier international dark sky reserve (near Sun Valley, Idaho), which is one of only 12 in the world. This reserve was accredited just a few months ago, so a visit this summer was a special experience since it’s a new travel destination in the U.S. We also had an opportunity to hear from a local dark sky expert, Stephen Pauley (“Dr. Dark”), while viewing the Perseid meteor shower under the clearest skies.
The Perseid meteor shower comes around every summer when Earth passes through the trail of dust and debris left in the orbit of the very large Comet Swift-Tuttle.
During this experience, we also had a chance to drive a Chevrolet #BoltEV and got hands on time with a leading all-electric vehicle that can go 238 miles on one charge, and is a fit for this environmentally mindful destination.
I wish I could take credit for these photos, unfortunately night photography isn’t one of my skills. But thanks to the @chevrolet team and Rob Marcroft, the photographer, I am able to share what we experienced that evening. Photos still do no justice to the real thing.
This was definitely a memorable night. That’s me in the photo! (Photo by Rob Marcroft for Chevrolet)
