Battle ropes are one of my absolute favorite workouts!! You can do multiple variations depending on what muscles you want to target. Earlier this week I did low rep heavily weighted (+100 lbs) pull-ups, today I'm doing wide grip body weight only pull-ups 5 sets of 8 reps with minimal rest btw sets. Good for working the lower part of the bicep. Far from the traditional one arm concentration curls or even seated individual bicep curls or cork screws. This maneuver is very effective because the contraction is still the same as the above mentioned. Just make sure that you keep as one fluid motion not a 2 part movement. I started my brand new program this morning. It's a combination of Pilates, yoga and cardio and it is definitely not in my wheel house. I thrive in the intense cardio programs like the one I just wrapped up. Here, I feel uncoordinated and unstable. That just indicates where I need to grow. I can tell just from this photo that I need to work on my neck alignment even in my baby step to Warrior 3 pose!
Along with stepping out of your comfort zone, you need to keep your muscles guessing. It was time for me to switch up my style of fitness programs. I could tell my body was getting used to the moves. I was really surprised today at some of the moves I struggled with strength-wise. It just goes to show that different movements use such different muscle groups.
I'm excited to see what this program does for my running. They definitely go hand in hand with each other!

I don't know what Sunday is like for you but for me it's always a struggle between trying to relax and get some much needed down time and trying to get shit done for the coming week!

Cable rows. Change it up each time you do them. One time do both arms together, then alternating arms and also (as shown here) single arm rows. Another variation would be to do first sets arms together, followed by alternating or single arm as last set... or the opposite. Keep your muscles guessing!

After doing 22 pushups for 22 days, I never thought my delts would be the thing effected by the Core de Force preview last night but here I am with aching shoulders. My legs are still sore from Tuesday's leg day at the gym and yesterday's 3.5 mile trail run. Always a glutton for punishment, I followed that up today with 80 flights of stairs over my lunch break. Yesterday's workout.๐Ÿ˜˜ Its so easy to fall into a routine of doing the same workouts every week because its easier to do what is familiar to you. Try switching up your workouts on a weekly basis to prevent a stall or plateau in your progress. Variety is critical in making progress!! Learning new tricks can be scary but try performing one or two new exercises each week. Its as easy as watching a youtube video or reading up on some new fitness articles. One way to shock your muscles into extreme growth is incorporating supersets into your workout. Perform 2 exercises in a row with no rest in between. You can mix it up and do different muscle groups or isolation/compound...whatever floats your boat.
