Maldives it’s an incredible place, but behind the blue water and white sand you can find lots of rubbish all over the islands and lots of dead reef.
Its a very concerning problem and not many people knows about it. It’s a Muslim Country and is really hard for girls to come up with ideas and change something. .
I am so proud of our saltysister @saltysun_💕
She just launched the first fully sustainable surfing program Soneva Surf comes Salt - a movie exploring the relatively unknown history and culture of surfing in the Maldives 🇲🇻, by those that live and breath the Indian Ocean 🌊
This movie will make the world realize the Maldives is more than sun, sea, sand and resorts that most think of it to be.
Full moving coming soon. We are excited 😁
“When I arrived to the Maldives I was chocked when I found out the number of people who couldn’t swim.
Which meant the number of surfers was even lower. Surfing still a relatively new sport compared to the rest of the world. There are many talented people here, but only about a hand full of female surfers. .
With the help of the wonder woman @alisonadventures we visited Goidhoo for a beach clean up followed by a surfing session dedicated for the ladies. Seeing them catching their first waves was such a heartwarming experience and the sensation was everlasting. .
Maldives is a beautiful country made up of thousands of islands with a whole other life just beyond the land and below the surface. We hope to encourage, support, and inspire the local community to spend more time in the water, build a connection with the sea, and ultimately take care of their ocean home.”
