Why take progress photos? This is why. Because we are so close to our own progress often times we lose sight of how far we have come or doubt that we are progressing because we depend on a scale or clothing sizes for affirmation... but your body and make positive progress and defy both of those arbitrary measures of success. Mine has. My weight is almost the exact same between these two photos BUT my clothing size has gone down OH --- AND I'm x100 stronger now! .

Making a change is often the hardest thing you will do but if you can maintain that change it will be the best thing that you ever did πŸ’— I used to dread any form of physical exercise right from my PE days at school πŸ™ˆ I was all really self conscious and I had no coordination (still have no coordination πŸ™ˆ) but over the past year I've learnt to really understand my body, control my IBS symptoms and really build my physical strength and now I couldn't think of a week when I haven't exercised and not enjoyed it. Love your body and it will love you πŸ’—

40 lbs down, and over a year later I still LOVE this program. When I first looked at these pictures side by side, I felt like I looked almost like two different people. (I promise THAT IS [ME] in both photos) However, I can say it also IS two different people... the person on the left was depressed, anxious, have daily anxiety attacks, and no self confidence. The person on the right, is happy, strong, and healthy mentally and physically! -

This is what 63 weeks of @kayla_itsines #bbg has done for me, and an additional 2 weeks of #bbgstronger - I start week 3 of the bbgstronger program today, and I'm loving it! I've loved ALL of BBG though... why? Because to me, the program is realistic. A program I really believe I can keep up with during all stages as life. It's #throwbackthursday, #fitfam ! Who doesn't love a 9 square ab evolution, emiright?! The top left photo was 7 Weeks #postpartum after my 3rd child within 35 months. I was facing a fist-wide #diastasisrecti and healing from a 3rd c-section. Lower right photo is 13 months postpartum. I've spoken at length in past posts about my journey to healing my DR, so I'll just give the highlights here. It was difficult to lift my children, my body felt broken & hollow, and I dealt with mild incontinence. It seemed surgery was most likely my only option, but I wanted to try and heal it on my own. I did research and focused solely on healing and repairing the separation through rehabilitation exercises until I closed the gap to 2 fingers-width. Shout out to @powerzen_cloe and @goodfortheswole for their brilliant post-partum safe workout videos and advice! Once the gap was closed, and I was feeling more stable, I started #bbg by @kayla_itsines. I have consistently followed the program for 26 weeks, modifying all ab exercises to be safe for DR. BBG has taken me to a level of fit I've never reached before!! I still wear a belly binder during all workouts. When I took that first photo, I never, ever thought I'd have a flat tummy again, let alone #abs . It is possible to heal DR, it just takes time, patience, and a whole lot of consistency. Happy to answer any specific questions regarding DR - I'm no expert, but happy to share my experience!

TRACKING MACROS

Hey, #fitfam ! 4 weeks ago I was inspired by @fitinthe6 to track #macros . At first I felt completely overwhelmed, but after downloading the My Fitness Pal App, I realized it really wasn't that time consuming. I have always eaten intuitively and in moderation. I've never counted calories. The only thing I've really ever focused on was my protein intake. The first few days I didn't eat to meet my macro goals. I simply kept a diary of my food intake to see where my current diet stood in comparison to my goals. What I found is that I was heavy on protein, carbs were spot on, but lacking in fat. I also realized that if I want to see those #gains I need to eat a lot more food πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ With a slight adjustment for protein intake, I've eaten to meet my macro goals for the last 3 1/2 weeks. Over this time period, I haven't once felt #hangry or ravenous. With proper #mealplanning it was very easy to get the right balance of foods and nutrients. Here are my thoughts: I'm type A, so tracking/organizing gets me excited, so I do like it. I feel that my tummy has leaned out a bit more. I have consistently followed #bbg by @kayla_itsines for the past 26 weeks - FYI. I'm a firm believer in #screwthescale but I did weigh myself for comparison, and I basically weigh the same - 125 lbs, which is fine by me. Tracking helped me to plan and stay on track, especially if I knew we were going to a BBQ or another type of social eating event. I must say, that some days I personally am hungrier than others. We aren't robots, so I do still believe in intuitive eating. If you're craving something fatty, I truly believe your body is asking for it. The verdict: I like #trackingmacros but now that I know that my intuitive eating was fairly close to my calculated goals, I'm going to back off of tracking so intensely. I think tracking macros is a great way to see where your current diet stands and help you make even better choices. I'd recommend tracking for 2 weeks to anyone - you'll learn a lot about what you consume, and you'll probably find yourself thinking more thoughtfully about the food choices you make.
