⚖️ 7/10 - ’Katsu Sandwich’
📍 @untitled_restaurant_bar, 538 Kingsland Roadr, London E8
Currently I'm spread 🦅 in a cheeky pair of short shorts, highly likely bollocks astray, under a delicious 28 degree ☀️ in Mendoza, Argentina 🇦🇷 - of course, con una 🍺 at ✋🏽. And tomorrow, whilst you're at work, I'm going to 🚲 through endless vineyards, during which I will undoubtedly drink myself into a cheery, mumbling stupor. But my mind flicks back to Dalston's Untitled Bar and this nifty katsu sanger. Unfortunately a fair way off Sosharu's but decent nevertheless.
🍞: Homemade white. Phenomenally sponge-like, it was quite remarkable in that it had the most terrific crumb and carried modest, acidic 🎶. Toasted on the inside to protect moisture damage, give me this bread and a bowl of gravy and I'd be as happy as a 🐷 in shit.
🐂: Panko-breadcrumbed beef, pickle, bulldog sauce. Simples.
💭: The panko was golden brown, texture like sun, i.e. very good. The beef had good flavour and had obviously been salted so that it would tear easily with each bite. This wouldn't work if the meat were chewy. The pickles were OK but only for texture, in terms of flavour they were lacking. I'd suggest some tangy, pickled asian-style 🥒 to elevate the beefs density, careful not to soggy the bread.
I was really impressed with Untitled Bar and it's whole menu because on appearance I'd have to say it looks a bit wanky, but then again I'm a West Londoner and am perhaps not quite cool enough for this joint. Extremely moderate in price, it's definitely a place to venture an hour across London for 👌🏽💥
