Memories - 5/365
I have always wished for long hair. In all my dreams I would be having waist long thick hair braided and resting on my left shoulder. Like Shobana in April 18, like Revathi in Mouna Raagam, like Ranjini in Chithram, like Urvashi in Sukhamo Devi, like Sridevi in Chaalbaaz, like Rekha in Khoobsurat.
Out of the thirteen paternal cousin sisters, it's just me who doesn't have thick and long locks. There's nothing, no oil, no hair mask, no treatment that I haven't done for this. I could build a castle in Switzerland with all the money I have spent on this stupid wish of mine.
Rewind to my childhood... My cousins have also taken good advantage of this weakness of mine.
While we walked from my paternal grandmother's place to my paternal aunt's place in Sreekrishnapuram (which was about two kilometres far), my cousin sister would ask me to step on 'it' every time I saw 'it'. She told me if I stepped on 'it' and walked without looking back my hair would grow long and long like Rapunzel's. Now you would ask what 'it' is.
The 10-year-old me was naive enough to believe her and step on'it' many times. And that 'it' was nothing but 'Aanapindam' (Elephant Dung). Poor me! 😓
