There isn’t a better view to end the day 🧡🌄
If the past couple months have taught me anything, it’s that staying motivated within this sport is not always easy. Since mid October, Kara’s been having episodes of tying up, which in turn has sent our progress back a few steps. Most of our last few rides have been walking, some trotting, and lots of spooking/emotional Arabian moments. When you’re going from a solid month of major progress and light bulb moments, to standing still - it’s hard to get excited for the future. However, this week things took a big turn for the better. On Wednesday we worked in the round-pen to get her moving - despite the wind which was kicking up a storm when I got the barn. Kara wasn’t phased, was perfectly in tune with everything I asked, and she blew me away with her work ethic and attentive attitude. Then today, we had some lovely work in the dressage ring, with easily our best canter work yet! I’m definitely feeling a weight lifted off my shoulders now that we’ve got Kara sound again, and I’m so pleased with how she’s come out the other side!
