SARKIN KANO AND THE ONSLAUGHT OF DIGITAL MISINFORMATION
By: Magaji Galadima
The Daily Trust published a story on it's online edition of Wednesday 20th Sept 2017, informing readers that the Kano Emirate Council has (already) turbaned a Lagos based musician Koredo Bello as the Sarkin Wakar Kano.
The whole story was cooked up and lacks substance, as nobody turban or install K. Bello anywhere as anything in Kano, it is just a pigment of the reporter's imagination and sadly a newspaper of Daily Trust's repute is being used as a launch pad for attack on the person of His Highness Sarkin Kano Muhammad Sanusi II.
Equally regrettable is the way some respected friends hastily reposted this absolute rubbish on their Facebook timelines, thus inviting cheeky comments and condemnations on an issue that is absolutely false. Those that shared the Daily Trust story surprisingly kept the thread trending and running, they did not deem it fit to delete it or apologise for the misinformation even after it's clear that the story is just a kite flying ploy by some home based musicians.
It is imperative nay necessary to draw the attention of pundits and haters, the architects, couriers and financiers (yes financiers) of this digital misinformation against the revered emir, that peddling these fake news erode their dignity much more than it harm the person and integrity of the emir especially since readers can very well read between the lines and understand that the story is false, malicious and ungodly.
God in His infinite mercy gives leadership to those He wishes, for now God the most Beneficent and most High has chosen Muhammad Sanusi II as the emir of Kano, that you continue to live in peace and harmony in this world and the hereafter very much depends on how well you accept that.
