Because someone flies to the other side of the world does not mean this person is going to become more tolerant, wiser or a better person.
People ask us often if we found ourselves or changed during this travel. We didn't change, or found ourselves. Maybe we even feel more lost.
We don't travel to escape from anything (to escape from what or where?). We just enjoy the JOURNEY itself. We enjoy the hours in a truck and traveling overland... Honestly we also enjoy the moment when we ended up sleeping in a service area with our tent and become friends with the employees working there. We enjoy seeing beautiful nature, trying new dishes but especially meeting different people... And having conversations that we wouldn't have in our hometowns. Learning how to eat with our hands, or chopsticks... And how to say 'thank you' in Chinese or Thai or Burmese. Seeing how the real nomads live in Mongolia or dancing with the Kurdish in Iran were beautiful experiences. That's why we enjoyed our trip. But no... We didn't find ourselves! Not yet. And probably we will never...
