"Football players don't get law degrees." And with that motivation, I sought out to transition from the college football field to the court room. My time at Michigan State College of Law was both intimidating and rewarding. I was 13 hours away from home and felt unsure of myself many times. By the grace of God, I became an associate juvenile court judge at the age of 30. I am fortunate that my judgeship allows me to maintain my criminal law practice as well.
Attorneys keep judges accountable. Attorneys scrutinize unjust and discriminatory laws. That's why the right to an attorney was guaranteed by our founders. No civilized society can thrive without brave attorneys.
