Sometimes I feel like the world is trying to make me believe that marriage is all madly in love moments followed by child free getaways and topped off with happily renovating something because you obviously exclusively share joint passions and interests, and when it's not that, something is wrong. I can get really caught up in the inequalities of marriage-and I don't apologize for that- there are things that need conversation and action for change, but it does take me down the "what's in this for ME" path more than I'd like. At the funeral of a friend last week the quote on the program stopped me dead in my tracks, and I knew immediately I needed to hear it in regards to my marriage. .
"Sincere love is something that sacrifices-not something that indulges itself. Sincere love is responsible. It would never knowingly hurt, but would heal." -Richard L. Evans. .
I forgot to take a date night selfie last night until we were headed up the stairs to carry our sleeping kids to their beds, but it made me think that maybe the internet needs more marriage in the trenches photos rather than exclusively date night and getaway selfies. Though I'd love the opportunity to take a getaway selfie if anyone wants to make that happen for me... #jussayin #marriage #julietangents
