There's that moment where we think that it is the end of the road for us, that taking few steps ahead is already dead end, but sometimes we just have to move forward to see what lies ahead. The things we don't expect are sometimes the most beautiful. ✨

I'd like to call myself the guardian of the stone house. πŸ˜…

On a serious note, the house behind me is the traditional Ivatan house and is made of stones, most of them are coral stones. The roof is made of Cogon leaves attached through the village's bayanihan and this roof can last up to 30 years! 😱Can you see how thick it is? Through time they would layer another batch of cogon leaves that would make it stronger. This house is designed to withstand the strongest storms and even earthquakes! A lot of signal number 5 storms and even magnitude 8 earthquake have passed and the village is still intact! And a lot of locals still live inside these houses!
The one I am wearing is the traditional Ivatan garment, still made of cogon leaves carefully handcrafted to make it look like this. This garment is made to withstand the extreme weather condition in Batanes. ✨

Batanes kept its beauty because they (Ivatans and the Govt) have so much respect to their environment. They don't want people to flock in a place and eventually destroy its natural beauty which is happening in major tourist destination in our country. That's why most of their beaches looked untouched with no resorts, just the natural landscape.

One example is this beautiful beach near our resort. You can't swim and enjoy the beach without a permit from the municipality, we made it here because we are staying in a Resort which is also government owned. They build business to employ their people. Outsiders or non-Ivatans are not allowed to build their business unless married to a local.
For me, they are practicing the best tourism campaign in the country; preserving the nature, cultivating the local, making the tourists informed and satisfied. ❀️ #juncetravels #breathtakingbatanes #philippines

The weather in Batanes is extremely unpredictable so when you visit this place and it's sunny, you're one lucky visitor.

I don't usually wear sunnies when taking a photo but Batanes gave us some real-bright-sun situation. πŸ•Ά

It's been a week that I visited Batanes and it's is giving the hardest time to move on.
Took this shot in one of our favorite cove in Southern Part of Batanes. Always up for some beach! 🌴
