I pulled out the jumpsoles and resistance bands for a quick plyo session. Im holding the ball simply to take my arm swing away to hit my legs and explosion. No it looks like I'm not jumping very high but its hard! Also the grass was slippery so I couldn't go too fast. Sidenote...a kid told me yesterday I should burn my KD jersey. My response was, " I've got 5 more. "

Tip #14 - SLEEP. Your muscles will not grow or get stronger without sufficient rest. Not getting enough sleep will actually make your vertical decrease. Your muscles will get overworked and never have time to recover which could cause injury. Working out is just the first step to increasing your vertical jump. Then there's eating right. And last but not least is getting enough rest to recover and rebuild. Keep grinding out there just makes sure you are getting at least 7 hours of sleep!

Shawn Tyler Thompson put Great work in today's Ball Handling session. I threw everything at him to work different muscles in his body while dribbling like #PowerHandz , weighted or oversized #Basketball, #Jumpsoles, & Ankle #Bands. Once we removed those things every aspect of his Ball handling was better. I'm also proud that His Hand/Eye coordination is improving with the tennis ball as well. He is working extremely hard to be a Key part in the success of this 6th Grade ELITE Team we are putting together this October.

If you could see soreness, I would have posted a picture along with this one. In high school I used these demon 😈shoes to help me jump higher, and they did their job! Yesterday I did a workout with them, not to jump higher but to get toned legs and mix up the leg day a bit. I tell you what, I can't move without looking like an old lady, stairs are sooo painful and so is the dogs 🐶running across my lap! This may sound crazy but I am so excited 😝to have the demon shoes back in my life! Tip #8 - CORE POWER. You will never reach your maximum vertical if you have a weak core. As we know, the act of jumping is a full body movement. The power first comes from yours legs, through your body, all the way up to your arms. If your core is weak it won't be able to transfer all that power throughout your body therefore resulting in a weaker jump. Good ways to train your core are
Leg lifts
Planks
Ab rollouts as pictured above
And weighted sit-ups machine or no machine
All these exercises should be done in
3 sets of 20
planks should be 3 sets of 1 minute.

Tip #7 - Plyometrics. Jump squats and box jumps as shown above use the same explosive movements as vertical jumping and can therefore help to increase the height of your jumps. Box jumps Force you to jump high enough that you're forced to use every single muscle in your legs to get you up onto the box. Therefore they are one of the best exercises you can do to get that bounce you want. Do 4 sets of 10 box jumps
30 second rest in between
On the last two sets try using some weight to challenge your muscles. After a few weeks , and once your body weight starts getting too easy stick to weighted box jumps and go up in weight every set. Keep on grinding! Send me your workout vids!
