About 12 years back I used to work night shifts as a security guard. It was often me in a small Daihatsu patrolling a large chemical factory from 10pm until dawn. Plenty of those nights were sound-tracked by James Taylor, one of my favourite singer songwriters. Where many of his colleagues during the seventies focused on lyrical and musical bravado, Taylor's elegant compositions were often paired back and more sensitive. Music to sooth the soul is no cliche when it comes to his sounds. His songs often acted as heart warming balms as he spoke about loneliness, depression and life's quiet foibles. This song, Something in the Way She Moves, here is beautiful example of that. Just him and a guitar. Art meets heart.
