🦃FITNESS HOLIDAY TIPS🎄Holiday season is upon us and here are a few quick tips to maximize the fun + fitness!

1. Meals like this one are important leading up to heavier carb days. You have to use up your gas tank before you refill it.

2. Start your day with a family walk before the hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving. End the evening with another family walk to decompress and aide digestion. (💡Challenge: DON’T bring your phones 📱. Actually be present be with your family.)

3. Use a small plate. You can always go back for seconds if still hungry.

4. If you don’t have access to the gym while traveling, set the clock for 10 minutes and bang out ARAP with some of these body weight moves—BURPEES•PUSH UPS•LUNGES•SQUATS•MT CLIMBERS•HIP THRUSTS•DIPS•PLANKS• HOLLOW BODY HOLDS•SKATER JUMPS.

5. Trust the process of all your hard work. Don’t hate yourself if you indulge too much. Wake up the next the day and continue to execute your healthy routines/habits. PLEASE DON’T 🛑 excessively restrict food, do hours of cardio in thick clothing, or slack on your sleep to compensate for whatever happens on the holidays. That cycle will not end in success.

🏋🏼‍♂️ WORKOUT WEDNESDAY—Bells and Bands. This is one of my go-to’s when running short on time, but want to hit both the knee-dominant muscles (quads) and hip dominant muscles (glutes and hamstrings). Read below for circuit.

SET UP: every minute on the minute alternate between
A. 10 reps of KB box squats
B. 10 reps of KB swings
You can pick how many rounds you like depending on time and skill level. I try to aim for 20-30 total rounds.

NOTES: the mini- band around my legs on the squats is the hip circle from @mbslingshot to help with glute activation. The large continuous loop band during the swings is from @dave_rbt and helps add peak resistance at the end of the range. I also throw a box in during some front loaded squats to clear up some form especially on more recovery lower body workouts.

This is a mindset i have worked hard this year to live by. When you are constantly comparing yourself to others, you’ll never notice your accomplishments or gifts to build upon. It leads to constant disappointment, unrealistic expectations, and self imposed anxiety. The only person you should use as a measuring stick is looking at you in the mirror.

FLEX 💪🏼 FRIDAY action to get creative with bicep/triceps training. This workout uses “drop sets” [either decrease weight or moving to a stronger position] to increase the time a muscle is working for growth.

For biceps i find it easier to use “loading” drop sets [manipulating weight used].

Triceps are great to use “mechanical” drop sets [changing body position] due to more options with dip-like movements.

Examples of how this looks:
Biceps—8 reps @ 40 lbs, 10 reps @ 30 lbs, 12 reps @ 20 lbs.
Triceps—8 dips, 10 close grip pushups, max reps off bench dips
