#13 best new school hip hop artist: Joyner Lucas
Joyner Lucas is an artist that I feel really doesn't get nearly the amount of respect he deserves. He is an incredible story teller and lyricist, and an amazing technical rapper as well. The energy Joyner brings to every single track is absolutely insane. Whether he’s telling a devastating story or rapping about his own life experiences, his use of imagery in his bars genuinely brings you into the world of whatever the song is about. Joyner raps in this sort of stream-of-consciousness style which adds a great sense of realism to his music. He also tends to switch up his flow a lot which he executes perfectly. His delivery is so genuine and passionate whether he’s rapping from his own perspective or some character’s, or even from the third person. He truly takes on the emotional role of whatever character he places himself in, which makes his stories so incredibly captivating to listen to. It is still very early in his career, but Joyner has already showcased how amazingly talented and skilled he is, and I feel like when he eventually drops his debut album, he can definitely become a top ten emcee.
