Fast & Furious (2009)
Also known as The Fast and The Furious 4, this instalment in the franchise is absolutely phenomenal.
After 3 movies with different characters, settings and stories, this one returns to the original cast, and is the start of the franchise changing - for the better. Dom, Brian, Mia and Letty all return from The Fast and The Furious, while Sung Kang reprises his role as Han from Tokyo Drift, aswell as additions to the crew like Gal Gadot and Don Omar's characters whom make their debuts here.
Stacked with high-octane races, brawls, shootouts and set pieces, this film is perfect for any action movie fan like myself. While the film retains the racing aspect and the focus on cars, the addition of Letty's "murder" plot aswell as everything surrounding Braga raises the stakes and gives this film the edge and push it needs to appeal to wider audiences, which is how I got into the franchise - and I've been in love with it ever since.
This film is a massive improvement on the first 3 instalments, and easily cements itself as the best movie in the franchise upon it's release in 2009. It also laid the groundwork for future additions to the world of The Fast and The Furious to be even better, which (spoiler alert) it does!
Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 28%
