Q: Is light therapy safe for the eyes?
/
A: There has been a significant amount of research conducted using photobiomodulation (PBM) for eye health benefits. Essentially, the specific wavelengths we use are effective at boosting cellular function, including cells in the retina. Many studies have shown how PBM can repair damaged retinal function. For this reason, we recommend letting your eyes be exposed to the light. We typically recommend starting treatments with the eyes closed. Then open them as they adjust to the light. A: Infrared saunas and photobiomodulation are both great therapies. But it's important to understand that they are very different. Infrared saunas primarily deliver far infrared wavelengths, which are great for generating heat. That's why they're ideal for the purposes of sauna-based therapy.

Light therapy (or PMB), using red and near infrared wavelengths, utilizes a different mechanism of action. Instead of inducing heat stress, they activate an enzyme called cytochrome c oxidase (CCO), which helps your cells produce more energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). This leads to a wide range of benefits that have been proven in hundreds of clinical studies.

Q: What the best time of day to use the Joovv Light?! 🤷‍♂️❓
A: In our opinion, the most optimal time is within
1 hour of sunrise or sunset. This is when the red and near-infrared wavelengths are strongest in full spectrum sunlight. Again these are the most optimal times, but it’s beneficial (& SAFE) to use your light anytime during the day because these particular wavelengths are always present in natural sunlight. 🔥
