Sleep is vital for us. It helps us recuperate and be vigorous during the day.
The idea to celebrate "World Sleep Day" has appeared long time ago. European countries appreciated the importance and usefulness of events devoted to the International Day of Sleep, which is held annually on the third Friday of March.
According to the medical statistics in the world, more than 50% of the population suffer from various sleep disturbances and for the last 100 years the total sleep time has decreased by 20%. The most common disease of sleep is insomnia. This disease affects 11-35% of the adult population of different countries in the world. The main causes of insomnia are permanent stress and neuroses. Lawyers and education, culture and art professionals are potentially at risk for the disease. Insomnia involves irritability, bad mood and carelessness, also affects the reduction of immunity in general.
World Sleep Day has its slogans every year. For example, 'Sleep Well, Grow Healthy' in 2011 or 'When sleep is sound, health and happiness abound' in 2015. In 2018 the slogan is 'Join the Sleep World, Preserve Your Rhythms to Enjoy Life'
So, be healthy and take care of your sleep!
