“I am aware of the pressures that you will always have to endure as a Kennedy, despite the fact that you came into this world an innocent. You, among all others, have a place in history. Whatever path you choose, I can only ask you and Caroline to make the Kennedy family proud, and especially, to remain faithful to yourselves." -Jacqueline Kennedy in a letter to her son John before her death.

"John and I were lucky because our mother was a strong woman with high expectations and a strong sense of values. She encouraged us to pursue things we were interested in and not think about what other people wanted us to do. Those were good lessons. She was also into character building and depriving us of things we wanted. "You can’t have that” and “Who do you think you are?” and “I think I’m going to send you off on a wilderness expedition now!” Of course, John and I complained constantly." -Caroline Kennedy.

A little early, but I believe this was when Jackie and her children left the White House on December 6th, 1963. Behind her, is her trusted agent, Clint Hill. 💓

“John had the ability to see inner flaws in people, and always responded with empathy. He’d make a beeline for the shyest person in the room and talk to them.” ─ Matt Berman, John’s close friend. ♡

“Perhaps she never expected love when she married two remarkable, charismatic and powerful men. Perhaps she settled for too little love. Perhaps she got from her husbands what she may really have wanted-power, money, celebrity, what appeared to be security.”

March 3, 1999 - Former NY-R Senator, Al D’Amato and John at a news conference in New York. D’Amato would soon go on to write a political advice column for GEORGE. Im not entirely fond of this picture and I’m not 100% sure why. It’s evident that, at least outwardly, John is laughing and smiling but I get this uneasy feeling (simply by looking at this picture) that emotionally inside he’s the exact opposite. Not sure if any of my folllowers have read Robert Littell’s book “The Men We Became” but towards the end Littell describes John’s physical appearance when they met up in the spring of that same year. I always thought that Littell was exaggerating when he mentions that John had clearly put on weight in ‘99. This may be the first and only picture where we sort of see a “slightly heavier” John Jr. Thoughts anyone?

“In 1996 I was staying at the Ciragan Palace Kempinski hotel which is right on the Bosporus in Istanbul, I got on the elevator and a young couple in sweat clothes was there. It was JFK Jr. and Carolyn on their honeymoon. I congratulated them and they thanked me. An interesting part was that everybody in the pre-Kardashian world was wondering where they were. I knew but no Twitter.” — John G. Scott. ♡
