Joey Ramone forever.

my sister’s contribution to @theaidsmemorial, a little bio about Suzie - again; my sister is so amazing “This is my stepmother Suzi Sidewinder a.k.a Suzy Lovegrove and Susan Papaleo (October 23, 1955 — June 14, 1987).
.
She was a dancer, a tumbler, a Rock 'n' Roller. She wore green striped mini dresses, black bangs, winged eyeliner, half-finished spider tattoos on her hip, bright yellow Mandy’s pumps, blue nail polish and black jelly bracelets that were originally the seal for pipe fittings. Sometimes she wore red tulle bows in her shiny straight black hair.
.
She knew everybody: #JohnBelushi, Andy Kaufman, #JeanMichelBasquiat. She was part of the East Village family. She was in a band called The Rattlers with Mickey Leigh (#JoeyRamone’s brother). She sung backup for #CoatiMundi and the Coconuts and Nina Hagen. She modelled for @viviennewestwood. She was in a film called ‘Get Crazy’ with @loureedofficial. She was the queen of le tchip (or teeth sucking). She snarled and hissed. She went to Club 57, Hurrah, Mudd Club, Liquid Sky and @maxskansascity.
.
She chain smoked cigarettes. She loved her mother’s recipe for boscaiola and a glass of milk with ice. She loved cats. Especially black ones. She was always drawing them. She had bad teeth.
.
Her late 70s/early 80s NYC wrestling name was Muscles Marina. #AndyKauffman was the ref and she wrestled him as well.
.
She had travelled around the world and swum in every sea. She loved the sun and the ocean. She fell in love with my Dad and moved to Sydney, Australia.
.
She was one of the first women in Australia to be diagnosed with AIDS. She had a baby with my Dad. My brother. They let me name him. She taught me how to make carrot cake. She did a placebo trial of azidothymidine (AZT) in 1987.
.
She wanted to forgive. She made a documentary about dying from AIDS in 1987 called ‘Suzy’s Story’. In the documentary, they kind of pretended she was straight. It was disappointing. Then she died.
.
I think about her every day. I think about all of them every day.” — by Holly Lovegrove @holly.lovegrove

"As we got better, Joey wasn’t keeping up on drums. We decided that we needed a new drummer and Tommy suggested making Joey the singer, which didn’t fit my image of a singer, but Tommy convinced me that he would look right between Dee Dee and I. Tommy was right. It worked.” - Johnny Ramone on the early days

Thanks you so much! 😃🤙

“The song’s short, brainlessly simple three-chord formula not only became the band’s personal calling card and trademark, it also served as the first schematics for punk rock and the seemingly endless number of sub-genres that sprung from it.” – Consequence of Sound on “Blitzkrieg Bop,” 2012

My friend @holly.lovegrove wrote this beautiful bio about her stepmother/my teen idol/coolest badass babe ever Suzi Sidewinder. So lucky to have had her in all of our lives. Suzi and Troy and Vince are all still reverberating through my soul. 🌟🌟🌟 #Repost @theaidsmemorial with @get_repost
