#JoeBiden recently visited his hometown in Wilmington, Delaware for a renaming pool ceremony where he worked as a lifeguard back in 1962. Reminiscing on the fond memories he shared while working there, Biden expressed how the job helped him learn about black people and the world around him.
According to the Grio, Biden states his only reason for getting the job was to learn about black people. “I’d turn on the television and see and listen to Dr. Martin Luther King, but I didn’t know any Black people,” he said. “So, I wanted to work here.” _____________________________________
