This @rivbike couldn't have been a more perfect bike for me on that stupid-long ride. I was able to rail every descent at full speed, passing riders on cyclocross and mountain bikes. Every climb was manageable with my 38x42 granny gear and the long chainstays allowed me to keep the rear tire grounded regardless of my body position. I had imagined that I might adjust my quill stem at some point, but everything felt great all the way through. My custom wheelset and the Schwalbe Thunder Burt tires performed beautifully. I was amazed at the number of riders dealing with tire issues on the side of the road. My ass is pretty beat up, but I think the Brooks C15 did as good a job as any saddle would.
