My drive home from work is just a few miles along the water, and sometimes I like to stop and walk around a bit. From 1945 to 1955, the USS Midway was the largest ship in the world, and is still the largest aircraft carrier open to the public. She was decommissioned in 1992, after 47 years of service. I have been aboard a few times, and it is certainly an interesting piece of history. My dad served on the USS Enterprise in Vietnam, so for me, and I have heard some great stories about his times on the ship, so it is has some added meaning for me as well as I walk around (and watch my head wherever I go). If you get the chance, check it out.
