You wonder sometimes how on earth you get involved with a show or a movie or a book that doesn't seem to hold any cosmic reason to be partial to you, but then you come down with a bad case of food poisoning last year and binge watch 4 seasons of a show in bed that you stumbled on because you'd literally seen everything else in your queue. And 48 hours later when you're finally able to get up, the latest season starts airing and you're all caught up. Girls was just one of those shows that had me completely intrigued all the way through to the end. It had its roadblocks, but the last two seasons produced some of the best episodes of television I've ever seen: "The Panic in Central Park" (plot idea came to Lena Dunham in a fever dream), "I Love You Baby," "American Bitch," and "Goodbye Tour" (that song). It took me way too long to conquer the final season, but I finished it last night. The journey was well worth taking. Another HBO hit sees its finale. It captured art, reality, and Brooklyn. What else is there?
