A note I’d like to make about use and names...
It’s wise in an industry like this, where everyone knows everyone (at least a little bit), to keep one’s work respectful with regards to the people one is working with. In other words, there are correct ways to go about things, ways which prioritize the needs, both professionally and personally, of those you work with, before your own.
That said, while this is a Blue Heaven backcross of sorts, and while “Blue Heaven BX1” might seem like an appropriate and obvious name for this project... it’s not appropriate.
“Blue Heaven” belongs to DJ Short. The words “Blue Heaven”, in reference to these genetics, or cannabis genetics in general, are the trademarked property of DJ Short, and to a slightly lesser but still very real and significant degree, Jd Short as heir.
It is not appropriate to use other people’s intellectual property without permission. Calling things “DJ Short’s —-“ when they’ve been worked for a generation or two is inaccurate and calling something “DJ Short’s Blueberry”, for example, is both redundant (because DJ made Blueberry and we all know that unless we wear tinfoil helmets under our hats in public) and unfortunate in that it perpetuates the insinuation that there is another Blueberry, bred by someone who is not DJ. This isn’t the case, but enough thieves have pushed the notion, to make people kind of accept the idea, it seems.
It’s also not appropriate to call something “Blueberry” or “Flo” without giving credit to DJ, because he created those to begin with.
Let me try this example for you - if you remix “Speak to Me - Breathe” from Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon, you cant release that one song as “Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon” - you have to name it appropriately, and you have to both pay cash and give credit to the original artist. “Breathe Remix” could be appropriate, if the band is payed royalties after giving permission for such a thing.
