The Balinese regard The Odalan as a holy day and a religious festival. Odalan is a time for Hindu-Balinese people to pray and to thank their gods. through religious services, offerings, and performances.
It is a ceremony, held for the temple and dedicated to gods who are believed to be the holiest.
Every Temple & Shrine in Bali has a special date for it annual " Odalan ", every 210 days according to Balinese calendar, including the smaller ancestral shrine which each family possesses.
Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. There are also times when the entire island celebrated the same Holyday.

JB Iwan Sulistyo was born in Kudus, Central Java, a small town renowned for its clove cigarettes and situated some 50km away from Semarang. While still in elementary school, Iwan already showed signs of his passion for painting, beginning his debut by making numerous pictures of his favourite movie stars, of animals, and natural sceneries using color pencil, ball point pen and/or watercolors. His high-school years were spent in Semarang, where he participated in a drawing competition organized by the Gallendra Art Shop in 1970 and, there, for the very first time, came in touch with oil paints. He won First Prize, and has never stopped painting since.
