Don't be afraid to embrace your individuality and feel proud of what benefits your mind, body, and soul. I was diagnosed with chronic depression, insomnia and severe anxiety at the age of 11. I was introduced to pharmaceutical pills that would eventually worsen my situation. After 6 years, I had enough. I took the initiative to research about marijuana and its medicinal benefits. I finally found something that helped me internally and something that benefited me; but I was forced to hide and deny it. My medicine was something that had a stigma placed upon it. I was forced, like many others, to hide within the Indian community. Cultural stereotypes forced me to believe that the very medicine that healed me, would lead to my destruction. Over the years, I have learned that at the end of the day all that matters is the wellbeing of your mind, body, and soul.
My advice to everyone that's trying to meet cultural expectations whilst staying true to yourself is to be unapologetic for what benefits you! Being true to yourself is more important than pleasing others.
She is no longer afraid to hide. She's breaking boundaries and disproving stereotypes, she is now free. 💕
