A lesser known Le Mans entrant. The Janspeed Triumph TR7/8 Turbo Le Mans. The project started as a TR7 in 1977 as was intially designed for the Grp. 5 Silhouette race series. A Rover V8 was put in the car and the body was restyled with racing body panels. Progress was slow though and Grp. 5 sorta went out the window. Instead they decided to enter Le Mans for 1980. It didn't really do any track testing beforehand and unfortunately the car didn't qualify for LM that year. Derek Bell did some testing afterwards and said that car just wasn't good enough. The car was then crashed at the 6hrs of Silverstone so in 1981 the car couldn't enter LM. It was due to be enter into LM again for 1982. But due to lack of funds, it was withdrawn. The car had about 450-500hp from it's 3.6 V8 courtesy of 2 Rotomaster Turbo's and Twin 2in SU Carbs. Speed along the Mulsanne reached 201mph. Only one was built.
