exp vs jaden smith
(im deleting this after a day or so but rant)
i hate exp and i support jaden smith.
its not hypocrisy let me explain why
jaden smith is dropping a kpop album. i think this is genuinely a really good thing especially after this shit with hong hyun hee and korean media's history with blackfacing for "comedy", it needs to see an actual black person on its televisions. koreans need to realize that black people dont exist for their entertainment and for their mockery; they are actual people and they deserve respect.
exp on the other hand, they've debuted as a "kpop group" and are being invited to tv shows and gaining a lot of publicity and new articles (both in us and in korea). why? because theyre white. they used to actually have a poc member but welp not anymore.
the fact that they are getting more publicity is white privilege.
asian trainees and rookie groups dont get this treatment. they worked their asses off training (non-koreans learning korean) and training for an uncertain future and might not even debut. and even if they do, chances are VERY LOW that they'll get even half of the publicity that exp is getting.
exp on the other hand have not gone through any training/ worked even half as hard as others to achieve their position rn.
i hope theyre doing this purely out of love for korean culture and music (lmao which is weird bc they cant actually speak korean??) "jaden smith didnt train, either!!"
yah this kinda sucks too. i hope he'll actually learn the language instead of just sounding out korean words like exp.
but the difference between him and exp is that he has a foundation set for him back in usa.
sure his dad was famous, but jaden smith still had to work hard to get to his position rn and he has this backing him up.
for him, this is just an expansion of his activities into another genre/ country. (its like CL or wonder girls debuting in america)
exp has no foundation, so they should be subject to the same training and being under a company as any other aspiring trainee (who also dont have a foundation)
i would like to hear other people's opinions on this :) but plz read before commenting.
