I'd be a damn fool to say I got where I am by myself. Chinaman, along with my brothers had put in countless hours to prepare me for this fight. I want to thank my opponent Gerald for the war, such a genuinely good guy and an absolute warrior. Big mahalo to John Kekino and the IWLC for bringing me up to Maui and offering me a shot at the title. Maui, you were such an awesome crowd and I hope to come back soon. Lastly, thank you to everyone who was behind me in this journey, from the bottom of my heart I fucking appreciate every one of you. Ladies and Gentlemen your new champ. #IWLC #BantamweightChamp #TeamChinaman #HMC

Happy 😊Monday everyone! Sometimes people👩🏻👨🏻 ask me, "where do you find the motivation to get things done?" Well, on weekends like the last one, it isn't always the easiest. I have been battling the regular immune response to a hard work 👩🏻‍💼out. But through that time ⏳ I have been really inspired not only by what I do, but by who I do it with... And like I mentioned last Friday, my Cree is only getting bigger and better as I get ready to be part of of the "Turn our differences into strengths" Panel at the Iowa Women 👭Lead Change, Central Iowa📍 conference in Oct. 26th!🗓 The Panelist are wonderful women, that have been shaking and moving in the business 👩💼 world for years. The conference speakers are some of the most brilliant people I have ever heard of, and I can't wait to share this with you! If you live in Iowa, and are curious about this event, check out the 👉🏻link in my bio 👈🏻and get your ticket! 🎟And remember, do things that will inspire you before they inspire others!

Although we have progressed, we still need to keep moving forward.

WHAT THEY SAY v WHAT I SEE
They say the church is a sacred place
A refuge for the ill treated
A light to illuminate the dark places of the world
But I am afraid they are wrong
The church is the place of ungodliness
A torment for the ill treated
The darkness with long tentacles.
They say the church is my lucky charm
A place of rest for my soul
A safe haven when the society kicks me out
But I am afraid they are wrong
The church is my most unlucky charm
A place of trouble for my soul
The Raven which feeds on all of me.
They say I do not understand the church
A church that has saved me so many times
A church that has shown me the truth
But I am afraid they are wrong
In fact I do understand very well the church
A church that has slain me like the society
And fed me with lies because I am a woman.
Let's stop thinking about what they say
Let's talk about what I see and feel
The church is the home for all?
Come on, quit the show
We all know it is a home for some
After all, men need to keep their pride
And of course, the woman is to sacrifice hers.
Let us say this honestly
The first time I shared the grace in church
I got scolded by my teacher 'when we need someone to share the grace
It is a boy we need not a girl'
Did they say the church is for all?
Cut the crap. It's definitely not for me.
Let's say something honest again
In my church, women cannot stand on the altar
Except when they are cleaning the church
Did you say I could rest in the church
When the society castigates me?
Forget it. It is not my home or tell me,
What kind of church is gender biased?
Just in case you are mistaken
Feeding on lies and swimming in hypocrisy
God gives the truth, men reform the truth
I think we need to think this through
Is the church really a refuge for the woman?
It shows us chains instead of wings.
I am a woman
If the church will limit me,
I will worship God on my own.
I was created not to crawl or walk or run
But to spread my wings and fly
And soar to the peak where I will really rest
And finally say to the world
Bless Jah!

So I decided to participate in the "Women In Leadership '17 Poetry Challenge". I'm late, but I surely have tenable reasons. In fact, I've lost a Sim card, used 3 phones, wasted money on data I couldn't use, all in one month.

Before I bore you with my gloomy tales, let me present my entry for #IWLC'17
OBINRIN

Obinrin,
You ruled Venice after men built it.
Men bow at your feet
Like subjects to a king;
At the sound of your soothing voice
They follow your orders
Like scurrying ants
To drops of sugar.

Obinrin,
The world strove to keep your throne
In the centre of the kitchen,
But you refused
And became the Johnson Sirleaf
Sitting on the throne of a country.

Obinrin,
Nations are as the dust
Without you.
They are as the unseen wind
Without you.

Obinrin,
You are the cupboard
Where the beautiful artworks of the creator are kept.

Obinrin,
A thousand men can not endure
The pain you go through
When you give us a chance
To see the creator’s artworks.

Obinrin,
Man is unworthy
To raise a finger against you,
Because he will be void,
And not one bone of his finger will exist
Without your odyssey of nine months.

Obinrin,
You are more than just a rib.
You are like a thousand ribs
Embedded in one being.

They say;
"Behind every successful man
There’s a woman."
But they fail to say that
Right in front of him
There’s another woman.

P.S: ‘Obinrin’ is the Yoruba translation for ‘woman’ or ‘female’. Some men say 'All Women are scum', but I don't agree with them, because my mum, my sisters and my female followers are still alive.

JUST A CHILD
I was just a child
A little one kept from the dark world
I can remember running down these roads freely
With sagging pants and laughter
I was a child who disliked assignments
Going to school used to be boring
Reciting memory verses was a problem
But I had to memorize the torture
That accompanies your footsteps.

I was just a child
As free as a bird
Knowing that I am a woman
Was my biggest regret
Womanhood approached me in a red hood
In silver, I was bundled to his house
On a white sheet, My pride was taken
And I just can't forget the sick smile on his face
Like he had achieved another goal.
I was just a child
I didn't even know the ways of the world
Before I knew the size of his penis
Before I knew that he rapes me
Before I knew that I was a child bride
Before I knew that I was being abused
Before I knew that he is bad news for me
Before I knew the pains of motherhood
Before I knew that I was a child with child.
I was just a child
A pretty eleven year old
Before I became a mother
A tired looking thirteen year old
With a kid and still pregnant
Now, I think about school
And wish I had spent more time there
When I still had the grace
And I wish I was just a child again
With no memories of this dark dark world.

THE BOSS I WANT TO BE
A child is born; we can feel the joy
It is a girl; let the preparations begin
She needs to go to school
And graduate with at least a 2,1
Then she will get a job
Most importantly, she will get married
Yes! Marriage and kids
That's the most important time of her life. 'you are a girl, sit like one
You must learn how to cook this stew well, olobeloloko
Learn how to take care of kids now, ile oko lo n lo'
These opinions settle in her head ominously
Mother is right after all, of what use is the certificate?
Yes, I will work after graduation for a few years
Then the kids will start rolling in
And of course, 'Daddy Wa' will provide for the family.
Perhaps, this is the future the society wants me to look up to
But father, this is not the boss I want to be
I don't want to be the boss only in the kitchen
Shuffling between the kitchen and the other room
Forgetting the midnight candles I burnt in school
Just because someone is promising to handle it all
I don't want to be the boss only in the other room
Moaning 'yes' when in reality, I am only a 'no'body
That is not the boss I want to be.
Mother, what do you think of a girl child
Who Sets fire to the world's dirty secrets?
What do you think of a girl child
Who doesn't wait for a man to come home before helping herself
What do you think of a girl child
Whose name brings men to their knees?
Who doesn't sit at home all day long waiting for 'my dear' to bring home money
I want to be a boss lady.
Mother, father, I want to be the woman in my dreams
Maya Angelou, Michelle Obama and Adichie are my idols
They speak to me in my dreams
And tell me to soar even to places no one dream of
Father, I want to be the boss of my life
The navigator steering my life to the zenith
I don't want to be the girl bent over firewood
Choking on the smoke of wasted dreams
The boss I want to be is the boss of my life
And the boss of my life is a boss with a goal .
