There are more & more small businesses opening every day on Instagram, mostly run by other mums just like us, who have the same main goal - to help provide for their family.
Inevitably some of these stores are picking out their stock from large, cheap, overseas retailers that "look trendy & edgy" quite often without realising they're a cheap imitation of an original design. It is not ok to copy and it is not ok to sell imitations - but you know what else is not ok? Publicly shaming and tearing down these women when they may not realise that what they've purchased is an imitation.
It doesn't make them a bad person that should be targeted & shamed, it means this person likely doesn't know and a quick, kind DM would go a long way in raising awareness of the true designer's & maker's identity.
These large unethical business undercut small business when they take their designs and manufacture them cheaply and badly. They have no regard for the hours of blood, sweat and tears that have gone into designing, creating, testing, producing, marketing and promoting these items!
We are all about the #shopsmallmovement, we want to encourage and uplift the movers, shakers & makers and how do we all achieve this? *Spread the word that #itsnotoktocopy #dontfakeit
*Tag & credit the original maker's when you share their work *Tag both the stockist & the brand so people can easily identify them
*Be positive and kind in your raising awareness of other's and don't be a bully!
