So far people in San Francisco are incredibly friendly, more-so than I would have expected. I’ve noticed here that people are generally comfortable with themselves and confident to take up space. They kind of OWN their space, for example a guy driving down 24th street in the muraled mission area on a Segway sashaying to the rhythm music blaring from speakers, singing along loudly and swinging from side to side fearlessly.
Now I’m not trying to Generalise at all, it’s something I’m appreciating, they just seem to give less fucks about what others think and it’s great!
Speaking of segways, as a guy whizzed past on one calling to his dog in a booming voice “Run, boy, run” my dad in his equally booming voice exclaimed “run yourself man!!” To which he laughingly quipped in response “Touché man”
My loud extroverted father says he feels positively quiet and shy compared to these brazen Americans, any of you who know him knows it takes a lot to overshadow the man.
Things have been pretty harmonious with him here so far, we’ve been having a lot of playful larking together around the streets of San Fran and yeah so far so good!
1: writing that your “open minded” on Couch Surfing can lead to attracting offers such as cocktails in a nudist house... could be a little intriguing but add your father into the mix and ehhh no. not a chance. Never.
2. Saw some amazing bird life today, a flock of parrots... and a humming bird. Apparently that is rare.
3. There are these electric scooters parked around the city that you can rent, something to try in the next few days.
