My baby isn't a baby anymore, but what a beautiful person she's become. I can't believe she's almost twelve. TWELVE! -- AND that she's kind & compassionate & loving & wise & funny & most of all eats suppers of toasted pine nut & feta couscous, sauteed spinach, carrots, & my dad's grass-fed steaks.
Nutrition, thankfully for us, is a privilege I do NOT take for granted. I am so happy she enjoys what we have and understands how lucky we are. Our Costa Rica visit, along with many different stateside travels we have been lucky enough to take together, were and are vital to her upbringing and world view. Whether a Quitirrisi tribal home or a wee backwoods Southern progressive enclave, love can be found. It can and IS being taught. It can especially be learned, and we learn more from each other every day (for my child is a marvelous wonder of love and always asks when we can have artichokes)
