A wonderful visit to UCD today. First off the incredible Folklore department. I can easily say Id happily pitch a tent and move in. A beautiful place #irishfolklore #ucdfolklore

Get your Saint Patrick’s Day started off right this year with Where Da Gold At bath bomb! This piece of Irish folklore has an intensely mysterious, yet sophisticated, scent of bright citrus and florals that mingle together with heady cinnamon and clove. Turmeric root powder colors the inside of this sparkling gold bomb, and it’s (of course) complete with an amateur sketch inside. #turmeric #stpatricksday #somobile #shoplocal #leprechaun #amateursketch #potofgold #irishfolklore #bathbomb

The Blake family used to tell a story that while on a night journey to the castle they heard fairy music and saw the fairies dancing in a fairy ring in a nearby field. I really love Irish legends and folklore stories so I believe this really happened 😋#Menlocastle #galway #visitgalway #thisisgway #countygalway #ancientruins #enchantedcastle #mystic #mysticruins #magiccastle #enchantedforest #irishculture #irishstories #irishheritage #irishfolklore #beautifulcastle #landscapephotography #landscapelovers #irishlandscape #instaireland #exploringireland #theirishexperience #ireland

A horse skull buried in the threshold of a house was once said to protect the inhabitants from evil spirits. Honeysuckle to avert an evil eye. Rowan to protect against enchantment. Fire to keep out the darkness beyond the veil

Apparently, there was once a time when young women were barred from bringing honeysuckle to their rooms because the fragrance "was believed to cause dreams that were far too risqué for their sensibilities."
(Thnx http://irishhedgerows.weebly.com/flora.html for the facts)

Here though, it represents protection against bad spirits and the evil eye

Some would say it wasn’t needed but Russ decided to kiss the Blarney Stone. The legend is that those who kiss the stone at Blarney Castle will be given the gift of the gab.. #blarneystone #blarneycastle #giftofthegab #irishfolklore #touristmustdo #fun #laughter #experiences #visitireland #corkireland #blarney #ireland

Our first performance of the season is ‘The Hero Light’ by Dominic Kelly. This story retells the extraordinary stories of the Ulster Cycle – the ‘Irish Iliad’ - an epic of interweaving stories centered on legendary hero, Cú Chulainn, The Hound. Dominic brings them to fizzing contemporary life, balancing irreverent humour and beautiful imagery with a powerful rendition of a deeply affecting tale.
