Born in 1928, Sohrab Sepehri was a poet, painter, calligrapher, tar maker, and player in Kashan. He is one of the foremost modernist painters. He delicately mingled the Western concepts with Eastern ones (he combined mysticism and western traditions together). He remarkably created a kind of poetry unsurpassed in the history of Persian literature. .
To him, new forms were new means for expressing his thoughts and feelings. His poems have been translated in many languages including English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Swedish, Russian, Turkish, and Arabic. .
Sepehri died of leukemia in Tehran. His poetry is full of humanity and concern for human values. He loved nature and frequently referred to it.
