Adaptation | What’s Integrative Health?
The #1 question I get asked upon meeting new people. Besides this being my profession, my passion, it is a way of living; creating and maintaining health in a way that is attainable and, more so addresses the entire spectrum of what it means to feel and be well - physically, mentally, and emotionally. We are made of interdependent parts, and only through aligning all these aspects, we can tap into living a vital and authentic life. Authenticity is another key factor in my practice of integrative health that I work on with my clients and implement for myself. Living in NYC, for instance requires a wellness strategy that is in harmony with the environment - Instead of trying to live like a Buddhist monk in a monastery, we need to have a tool set that allows us to create micro-moments of zen amidst of all the hectic and busyness. Relocating from LA to NYC, I certainly had to redefine those for myself and, one of my new favorites is my Uber-Meditations - before a meeting, I use the travel time to have a few moments of centering myself, refocus for the next client/task. I ask the driver to turn off music, slip off my shoes, phone on mute and drop in. By the time I arrive I'm refreshed and have spent my time efficiently. I simply am not home enough nor have the time for an hour of sitting on a meditation cushion - as lovely as it is - yet I can still INTEGRATE the benefits of a meditation practice into my busy schedule. So Integrative health, is about integrating ancient and modern principles and applying them to where you are, right now. Sending love from a post-meditation uber ride :) #integrativehealth #nyc #simplicity #efficiency
