A masterpiece, isn't it?
Tignanello is known in the world as one of the most prestigiuos italian wines.
The history tells that Piero Antinori produced for the first time this wine in 1970, mixing Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and aging it in barriques. That was a revolution for Chianti's area! So doing that, he lost the the DOC (because Cabernet and barriques are not contemplated in the disciplinary of course) to became a "simple" IGT. But it also opened the way for another species: the Super Tuscan.
You know, wines like Sassicaia, Solaia, Ornellaia... ;-)
