This was the cover of Q managzine in 1993. Really wierd to think about - Robert Smith is called a "THIS". Growing up, until even the late 90s, I always felt like I had to defend Robert Smith. It riled me. And people would love to 'take the piss' by making fun of my hero. I never got it - why did anyone care enough to mock? And, as fashion goes, now he's a legend. Just like Bowie and many before him. Anyone have a story of defending Robert Smith to a ruthless crowd?
