Laksa Ayam... Another Betawi dish that is delicious. The ingredients mainly is coconut milk, tumeric which creates the yellow color and dried shrimp. The serving usually using vermicelli, bean sprout, broil egg, fried shallot and basil leaves.
Laksa is taken from Sanskrit which mean "many" and that tells the many ingredients used in this dish. And Laksa is a "Peranakkan" food a fussion between Melayu and Chinese. Therefore you can find 3 kinds of Laksa. 1] Curry Laksa 2] Assam Laksa 3] Other Laksa.
Our Indonesian Laksa falls on the Other Laksa category and beside the Betawi style that I had there is also Laksa Bogor with Oncom, Laksa Palembang, Laksa Banjar with Gabus fish, Laksa Jepara and Laksa Lingga from Riau.
The Laksa that I had is in Jalan Pancoran 6 No. 19, Glodok Petak 9, West Jakarta. They small restaurant doesn't have a name only a signage writing what they are selling. It stated Mie Kangkung, Laksa Ayam and Asinan Sayur. The Mie Kangkung will be my other posting. So try one if u r nearby, it cost u only 22k rupiah a bowl.
