A little faith + fitness post for your Thursday morning
The last two weeks were super overwhelming. Feeling a need for extra rest I took about 2 weeks off from the gym. And here is the awesome thing about fitness being a lifestyle vs. fitness being a dreaded necessity during summer or spring break. Getting back to the gym was a no brainer. I never stressed once about taking too much time off or what that would do to my progress. I knew I wouldn’t be set back at the beginning or have to start all over in my lifting. This week I was back in the gym ready and willing to make up for lost time. And had in fact craved and desired that workout pump all the more.
So now the faith part. When your relationship with Christ is your lifestyle. When reading the word, being in prayer, and seeking his presence is more than some dreaded necessity needed to gain forgiveness or acceptance into heaven...our lapses, our “times off”, our derailments from the straight and holy path...they don’t set us back at the beginning. We don’t need to stress about how far we have fallen or how much progress we have lost. Falling back into step with Christ and his grace is a no brainer.
So if you have just passed or are currently in a “time off” from the word, from connecting with God, from craving His presence...Don’t stress. Get back in there. Make up for lost time. Gain your strength back. And know that if your relationship with Him is a lifestyle, not just a dreaded necessity, your lapses in pursuit will not derail you completely...if anything they will make you crave and desire that feeling with Him that much more.
