Post 39: It was an inside job! Upon arriving at our Sofitel Hotel on the first day in Rio with my cousins, the front desk informed us that we would need to leave promptly on Saturday morning due to an event being held at the hotel Saturday evening. Luckily Kevin had booked us another hotel for the remainder of our stay and we thought nothing of it. But by Friday it became evident that this wasn't just any event, as the whole appearance of the hotel was completely changing, top to bottom, inside and out. After seeing new signs with the name "La Nuit" everywhere, asking around the hotel, and doing a bit of research, we come to discover that this event is actually a massive traveling party hosted by Sofitel internationally. It had recently just taken place in Barcelona and Hollywood months prior, and we just happened to be on the cusp of the Rio party. Being a strict invite only party, and seeing as we weren't in that upper echelon of Rio society (yet), we were going to need to find another way in! So, dressed in jeans and button downs for a black tie event, without incriminating our accomplices we "found" our way into the biggest party in Rio that Saturday night. With every floor as part of the entertainment, entire rooms full of food and dessert, a full Brazilian jazz band coaxing us to lead the dance party all night, and an endless flow of champange from the front patio all the way up to the rooftop pool, its funny how much more fun a party is when you definitely shouldnt be there! Did a horrible job of capturing it properly but in the digital age I feel like that also talks to the quality of an event when you forget to take pictures 🙃. A big thanks to Sofitel for the party and an even bigger thanks to those that got us in!
