There's nothing quite like an 11th hour change of plan. Unfortunately it's suspected that I have stress fractures in my foot and I've been strongly advised not run tomorrow. Frustratingly I'll need to wait for a MRI scan for confirmation. It's been so difficult to put this in writing today as I guess I'm still in denial. I keep thinking "but it's just one more run" but the nurse I spoke to (a former runner herself) firmly informed me that it would only worsen and I need my feet for the next 40 years or so, was it worth "one more run"? In short, no it's not. To be honest I'm heartbroken. Many hours of training and dedication to not reach the end goal. It hurts, it's not how I'm wired but it's out of my control.
So time to reflect on a few positives... it turns out that running is really not as terrible as I initially believed, I'll goes as far as to say I started to enjoyed it at times 😜 Since running my body fat dropped by over 6%, my Visceral fat has also reduced, my body stats are much healthier. Running has also helped me make some new friends, it's a wonderful community, full of likeminded nutters! Perspective, I have a dodgey foot, nothing fatal, it's one race and there will be plenty more. Finally training has been brilliant and I can't thank Dean enough for keeping it fun and positive, he's challenged me whilst chucking a suitable amount of banter my way! It's been emotional at times but also funny. I'm looking forward to the next challenge! 🚴
So for now I will be hanging up my running shoes. Nothing lasts forever and I hope that some day soon we'll be hitting the trails again. So until next time... 😘
P.s. A huge best of luck to my friends that are running either the Plymouth half or the London Marathon tomorrow. Go out there and smash it and more importantly enjoy it. You should be proud ☺️ #fitnessjourney #plymouthhalfmarathon2017 #hangingupmytrainers #runninggirl #runningcommunity #personaltrainer #innov8 #untilnexttime #fitnessgirl #injurysucks #nevergiveup
